Many of you know, that the start of my 2nd year serving in China has been rough. There have been many trials and frustration. And quite honestly, there have been moments when I just want to give up and leave. But I am reminded that God never said anything about how following Him would be easy. And we are to persevere. I have felt very clearly that He wants me in China for another year and well, those trials will come. But how am I going to handle them?
"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. " (James 1:2-4)
I have been reminded the last few days, how incredibly blessed I am. As I look back on the past 15 months spent in China I am blown away by God's goodness and faithfulness. I am so blessed to be able to do what I am doing. Seriously, these are the precious treasures I get to love on each and every day. How could I not be anything but thankful?
There are moments of joy and there are moments of difficulty. But God is, has been, and will be here through all of it. He is here when a
baby boy is abandoned and He is here, rejoicing when a child joins a forever family of their very own.
And He is here through my joys as well as my trials. He will see me through.
"Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Chris Jesus." (Philippians 1:6)
Thank you Lord, for the reminder that You are always there. And for being patient with me when I fall over and over again.
If you are following along in my Psalm 139 reading, I never posted yesterdays verse, therefore here are two verses to meditate on, 8 & 9:
"If I go up to the Heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in the depths, You are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea."
