Day 3 of Thankfulness: Adoption

I am thankful for adoption.

Many of you may or may not be aware, but November is National Adoption Month and today, November 3rd, is Orphan Sunday. As you may know, adoption is near and dear to my heart. The main reason is that this little sweetie joined our family over 11 years ago on May 26, 2002, and my life has never been the same since. She brings such joy to our family and is such a blessing. We can not imagine our lives without Kiah Hope through the miracle of adoption. God broke my heart for what breaks His and I will never, ever be the same.
Then finally on January 20, 2010, I traveled to China for the very first time. And once again, my heart was broken. So much so that I came back to China indefinitely on March 14, 2012 (my 26th birthday).

Adoption has been such a blessing to my family. Without it, Kiah would not be my sister today and I can not imagine my life without her. God has such a heart for the orphan, how can we not do something?

"I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you."
John 14:18

'Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."
James 1:27

"Learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow."
Isaiah 1:17

"Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me."
Psalm 27:10

"Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed."
Psalm 82:3

These are just a few verses where the Lord talks about the orphan or the fatherless. Look them up for yourselves, you will see how His heart breaks for these precious children.

Maybe you aren't in a place where you adopt a child. And that is fine, not everyone can. But there are ways that you can become involved and make a difference in the life of an orphan child. Sponsor a child, give to a Fund, or maybe even GO and visit.
There are so many ways you can be involved. And believe me, if you become involved in orphan care and adoption, you will never, ever be the same.
