{Adoption Awareness Month} GO

"I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you."

John 14:18

Since November is National Adoption Awareness month, I am doing a series of several posts on how you can be involved in orphan care. Whether it's through adoption, going, giving, or supporting, I want to give you tangible ways to do something. Because after all, we are all called to do something.

On Friday, I talked about how the most important thing we can do is PRAY. And that is so true! But maybe the Lord is nudging you to do something more. Maybe He wants you to GO! I can not encourage you enough that if the Lord is laying it on your heart to go, then go! Whether it's for a few days, a week, two weeks, a month, a year, or ten years. It doesn't matter how long or where, the Lord will use you.

The time I have spent in China and Mexico, which is where my first mission trip was when I was 15 years old, have been such life changing experiences. The Lord has broken my heart for what breaks His and I will never be the same. Let me warn you though, when God opens your heart and your eyes to the hurting and poverty in this world, you will NEVER see the world the same again. I think that's a good thing, but it's a hard thing. And I will leave that up to you and your own opinion.

Maybe you are thinking,

"Where can I go?" or "I want to go, but where do I start?"

There are so many options and it can be extremely overwhelming if you don't know where to start. Below you will find links for a few organizations that are great options. Also, many Church's go on mission trips! Whether it's overseas or right here in the United States. I can't encourage you enough to GO. And experience it for yourself.

Day 11 of Thankfulness: Financial Provision

I am thankful for God's financial provision.

One of the things that very well could have held me back from moving to China, was finances. All the foreign staff at the foster home I am serving at, are self-supported. As I was praying about moving to China, the fear of money continued to hold me back and scare me. God is very clear about how dangerous the love of money can be and how it can become an idol. Even worrying about it, makes it an idol. I truly felt the Lord leading me to China and so I had to lay the financial burden at His feet. If He really wanted me in China, He would provide the funding. And oh my, has He ever. He has blessed me beyond measure. Through Church's, individuals, even people that I have never met have come alongside me and partnered in the work I am doing. It has been such a blessing and has allowed me to focus on the work I am doing here, rather than constantly worrying about finances. When He provides, He provides in a big way.

 I have a pretty awesome brother.

Okay, actually I am blessed with FIVE pretty awesome brothers.

Each amazing and gifted in their own way.

But they do all have one thing in common.

They ALL love to tease me.

Ok, but that is not the point of this blog post.

Meet my brother, Asa. He is the "middle child" and just finished up his junior year of college.
Asa has such a love for Jesus and a desire to share Him with others.
He also loves baseball.

He has an amazing opportunity this summer to not just play baseball but also to do local outreach and discipleship.

Where you might ask?

In ALASKA!

Asa will be playing with Athletes in Action, which is ministry branch of Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ).

AIA (Athletes in Action) is part of of the sports ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. Through baseball, clinics, and local outreach, the AIA team will be sharing the message of hope through Jesus Christ in the Anchorage, Alaska area this summer.
