Passing Through the Waters

"Do not fear for I have redeemed you;
 I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
 When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.
For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior."
Isaiah 43:1-3

"Passing through the waters."

Those are the sweet words on my heart this morning as I waited for my Sweetheart to come out of her surgery. I felt helpless, waiting for word on my little girl. Word that she had come through her surgery successfully. That she was alright. I couldn't do anything but sit in that waiting room and wait. And then when word came, I had to again wait for a translation. Have I mentioned how God is teaching me a lot about patience while living over here?

As I sat in that waiting room, I read Isaiah 43 and the above powerful words brought comfort to my anxious heart. Back in March 2012, this is the verse that I prayed over this same precious girl. It was the night before she arrived in our care and I was given the honor of giving her an English name. And part of that responsibility includes praying over this child. And so that's what I did. I prayed over her life. This was a little girl who was abandoned, left, just days before. A baby girl with medical complications and in need of surgery, love, and a family. And as I prayed for her, God placed Isaiah 43 on my heart and that verse I have claimed over  her life ever since then.

As I sat in that waiting room this morning feeling helpless, those words from Isaiah 43 brought peace to my anxious heart. "Passing through the waters." She was just passing through the waters. I couldn't be with her at that exact moment, but God could and He was. He was with her during her surgery and He was holding her. Bringing comfort and peace to her heart and calming her fears. And while He was at it, He calmed mine as well.

He loves this little one far more than I ever could. He knows the number of hairs on her head. He has summoned her by name and she is His. He has big plans for her life and this was just another "passing through the waters" moment of Sweetheart and Jesus.

Finally after 2 1/2 hours, those sweet words reach my ears: "surgery was successful!" Thank you for all of you who have been praying for her, lifting her up before the One who created her and loves her. Continue to keep her in your prayers in the next few days. Pray that there be no complications, fever, or infection. Pray that she will feel the love of Christ and that the pain will be minimal. Pray that she will feel His comfort and love. And pray that she will be able to come home very soon because my arms are aching to love her back to health.

  4. Oh how many of us love that precious little girl... so I can only imagine how amplified that is in your own heart by having been such a big part of her precious and tender life since the day she arrived. This post resonated deeply with me, and touched me to the core. Thank you for sharing your heart so beautifully and for allowing us to watch as you continue growing in Him and being a vessel that He is working through to love on these precious children... especially this SweetiePie♥!!

    We will continue to keep Charlotte in our prayers as she recovers.

    Blessings & Hugs,
    ~ Tanya
