My Mother

One of the things that I have become aware of as I work with orphans, is how important a mother really is. My precious kiddos are blessed because they have several mama’s in their lives… but it’s not the same as having that ONE Mom.

I am blessed to have an incredible Mom. I’m not just saying that, she really is incredible. After all, she put up with me during my teen years! ; ) She has loved me and supported me through my best and worst moments. She has listened when I just needed to talk and most importantly, she has prayed for me. She would always remind me how God is in control and how “He knows the plans He has for you.” And even though sometimes I got tired of hearing that growing up…. I now know it’s true. He does know the plans He has for me. I just sometimes wish I knew those plans!
My Mom has shared in my joys, my disappointments, my accomplishments, and my dreams. She has encouraged me in my walk with the Lord and in my faith. And one of the most important things she has done in my life, is support me in what I’m doing now. It is not easy for her. I know she misses me and I know she wished I were closer to home. But she would tell you that she would not stand in the way of what God has called me to do. I have a lot of friends who have doing something similar to what I am doing, and do not have the love and support of their family. I am truly blessed to have that.
I know she doesn’t have it easy, I know she makes mistakes. And I know she has her moments of doubt. But through it all, she trusts Jesus. She lays all her cares at His feet and trusts Him with her life and with the lives of her children. And THAT is why I love her so.
