Happy 1st Birthday Baby Kiah!!!

While in China I was given the amazing opportunity to name a baby. So each of the children at the foster home had their Chinese name but then in order for us “forgeigners” and also all our American supporters to be able to remember their names, we give them an English name as well. It is neat because sometimes when a child is adopted, their parents actually keep the name New Day has given them!

Well back on March 12, 2010, we had a new baby arrive at the foster home. She was born on January 7, 2010, so she was just over 2 months old. So I’ve never named a baby before, so where do you begin (p.s. this makes me nervous for parenthood someday)? I wanted her name to be special and also the meaning of a name are important to me. It didn’t take me long to realize that I should name her Kiah. Kiah is the name of my precious sister and pretty much the reason why I was in China in the first place. It was through her adoption that God really opened my eyes to the needs to care for the widows and the orphans and gave me a heart for orphans all over the world. The second reason was the meaning. Kiah means “God is strength.” How perfect is that for a baby with a serious heart condition?! And thirdly, I knew my 9 year old sister would be thrilled to know that I named a baby after her. So Kiah it was.

After I arrived home in the states in May, I have been given the privilege to sponsor Kiah. I receive an email update and picture each month. It’s hard to believe that this is the same tiny girl I held back in March and that she is 1 years old now, had heart surgery back in September, and is doing wonderfully!!! It truly shows how loves does make a difference. Please be praying for Kiah’s birth parents and also for her future adopted parents. She has not been matched yet but I’m praying she will soon. Here are a few pictures!

  1. awhhhhh...Happy 1st Bday, Baby Kiah! I remember when she arrived and how you got to name her. She is just TOOOOOOOOOOO precious!! I would bring her home in a heartbeat if I could... Khloe NEEDS a little sibling. Seriously. All in God's timing though... if it's His will, He will lead the way. I can just see it now "Khloe and Kiah" ~ PERFECT!! Do you know if her papers have been submitted yet? So neat that you are now sponsoring her ~ she is absolutely precious!! God bless! <><
