Heartland

Kiah completed her first school project. For those of you who don't know, all of us have been homeschooled up through 7th or 8th grade. I went into public school in 8th grade and several of my brothers have gone in in 7th since our high school is 7th-12th. Anyways, Kiah is the youngest of 7 children. She is 5 years younger than my youngest brother, Tage. My Mom and Dad decided that she was going to go into public school this year rather than waiting until 7th (she's in 4th grade). There are several reasons for this. One being that she is the only one at home. The rest of us had other siblings around but being the youngest, it is just her and Mom. Second is that she is so social. She loves people and loves being around people. We felt like it would be good for her to be around people her own age and also the fact that she is the youngest by 5 years. Therefore, she went into Frewsburg this year. She is doing very well. She loves it and she had a 4 day weekend this past weekend for inservice day and Columbus Day and is probably the only kid who was sad that there was no school. She is very anxious to be going back tomorrow! What is my Mom doing you may ask? After homeschooling for 22 years, she has no children had home. She has been substitute teaching a lot at Frewsburg as well as volunteering through different ministries in the area such as Love Inc. It has definately been an adjustment for her.

Back to Kiah's project: she had to create a country. She decided to name it Heartland (in the shape of a heart) with the capital city of Valentine. : ) She had to come up with mountains (made out of hershey kisses), rivers and lakes (made out of fruit rollups) and several other landscapes. It turned out very cute. Here are a few pictures of little missy with her "creation."
