Through the Valley…

“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”

Psalm 23:4

There are ups and there are downs. It is easy to see God through the ups. However, that is when we usually forget to thank Him. And during the downs, we wonder where He is? But God is there through it all. Through our happiness, through our sadness,  and during our “valley’s.” He promised us in Psalm 23 that “even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil.” We don’t have to fear because He is with us. He will comfort us if we will only let Him. My family is going through a valley right now. I could get angry, frustrated, even blame God. But “His rod and his staff will comfort me.” That’s what He promised. To carry us through those tough times. Even though I don’t’ understand. I know He is there and He is granting me peace.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

John 14:27

I have a choice. To walk this valley alone or to choose the One who will never leave nor forsake me. I pick option #2. : )  God has given me such peace. It may get worse before it gets better. But my God is a God who knows exactly what He’s doing. And even though I don’t understand. I’m choosing to trust in Him and His plan.

“Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

Psalm 23:6

  1. i found it a little strange that the new NIV decided to translate this "the darkest valley" when "the valley of the shadow of death" was a literal place... other than that I'm pretty excited about the new translation and will probably pick up a copy soon.

  2. Anneli, I am praying for you and your family. I'm not sure of the details, but God is fully aware and I trust He will see you through this valley and that He will be with you every step of the way.

I am also praying about the requests you sent me in your email. Know that you are in my thoughts often. Continue leaving your burdens at His feet, and let Him carry you when your strength is leaning on empty.

    I love you, friend.

    Hugs,
    Tanya

  3. Jim, yeah I thought it was interesting that the NIV worded it that way too since I've never learned it that way. But, it fit for this situation so I kept it.

It was great seeing you too last week!

    Blessings,
    Anneli
